Itinerary

Your guide will meet you at your Hanoi hotel around 8:00 am, and together we’ll begin the journey to Ha Giang via Tuyen Quang. Along the way, you’ll pass endless tea plantations, scenic mountains, and charming ethnic minority villages. We’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant in Tuyen Quang before continuing to Ha Giang, arriving in the late afternoon. If time allows, we’ll take a leisurely stroll through Ha Thanh and Thon Tha villages, where you can meet the friendly locals and learn about their way of life. Dinner will be served before you settle in for an overnight stay in Ha Giang. - Walking distance: 5–7 km.

Today’s off-the-beaten-path adventure begins with a morning departure from your homestay for a 6–8 hour trek to Lung Vai village. Along the way, marvel at the stunning terraced rice paddies, towering mountains, and peaceful palm forests. You’ll encounter ethnic minority communities such as the Man and Dao, who often welcome travellers with friendly smiles and brief conversations. Pause for a picnic lunch in the heart of nature before continuing towards the secluded village of Khuoi My. On the way, you’ll pass farmers tending their fields, and if time permits, you might even join in their work for a hands-on experience. The day ends with a visit to Ban Tha Village, where your driver will be waiting to take you to Nam Dam. Here, a home-cooked local dinner awaits, followed by an overnight stay in Ha Giang. – Trekking distance: 13–15 km.

After securing your permit at the Ha Giang immigration office, we set off towards Dong Van, passing through a series of winding mountain passes with spectacular scenery. Our first stop is the charming mountain town of Tam Son, where you’ll enjoy lunch before visiting the impressive “King of the H’mong Palace.” Built in the early 1900s by local chief Vuong Chin Duc, who allied with the French against the Viet Minh, this fortress blends Qing-era Chinese architecture with sturdy stone walls, wooden beams, and terracotta tiles. From there, we continue to Dong Van for lunch before embarking on a 3.5-hour trek to the highest mountain in the region, where breathtaking panoramic views await. Along the way, we’ll visit remote H’mong, Lo Lo, and Giay villages, each offering a glimpse into the traditions of this untouched frontier. The day concludes with a return to Dong Van for dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel. – Trekking distance: 8–10 km.

After breakfast, we’ll stroll through the charming Dong Van Old Quarter before heading off the beaten track to Pu Lo Fortress, a historic stronghold built in 1890 and abandoned in 1945. From this vantage point, sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and valleys unfold before you. The journey continues with an 8 km climb to the top of the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, winding through a dramatic landscape of limestone peaks, stone forests, and deep canyons, before descending into the serene valley of Meo Vac. When the trek concludes, we return to Ha Giang, where dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at a hotel await. – Trekking distance: 8–10 km.

On the final day, we journey back to Hanoi via a scenic, lesser-known route, tracing the winding rivers that weave through mountain passes and rolling hills in the heart of Central-North Vietnam. Few foreign visitors make it here, so expect warm curiosity from the locals—a perfect chance to connect and learn about their traditions. Before arriving in Hanoi, we pause at Duong Lam Ancient Village to wander among centuries-old houses and soak up its timeless charm. After a final lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll drop you off at your hotel, bringing this unforgettable adventure to a close.
