Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in Hanoi at around 7:00 AM for the drive to Ha Giang by private car. The journey takes approximately 6–7 hours, with scenic stops along the way to stretch your legs and take in the beautiful landscapes of northern Vietnam. En route, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where you can savor regional dishes such as rice with grilled pork or chicken, pho, and other Vietnamese specialties. In the late afternoon, arrive in Ha Giang city and check in to your hotel. Take some time to rest and freshen up before exploring the area. You may opt for a short walk around the city to get a feel for the local atmosphere or simply relax at the hotel. Dinner will be served either at your hotel or in a local restaurant, giving you the chance to try Ha Giang’s unique flavors, such as corn wine or grilled mountain pork. After dinner, unwind and get a good night’s rest in preparation for the trekking days ahead

After an early breakfast at the hotel, begin your journey from Ha Giang to Quan Ba, a scenic 1.5-hour drive through lush valleys and winding mountain roads. Along the way, stop at Quan Ba Heaven’s Gate, a renowned viewpoint offering sweeping panoramas of the valley and surrounding limestone peaks. Take time to capture photos and enjoy the refreshing mountain air before continuing on to Yen Minh, a charming town celebrated for its natural beauty and cultural diversity. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before setting out on a 10-kilometer trek around the villages near Yen Minh. The route will lead you through verdant forests, terraced rice fields, and traditional ethnic minority settlements. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and interact with H’Mong, Tay, and Dzao villagers, gaining insights into their unique customs and daily life. The trek is of moderate difficulty, with ample chances to pause for photographs and take in the serene surroundings. In the evening, return to Yen Minh for dinner, followed by an overnight stay at a local homestay, where you can experience authentic hospitality and the warm charm of rural life.

After breakfast, depart for Dong Van, a picturesque town located about two hours from Yen Minh. The drive takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of the Dong Van Karst Plateau, a UNESCO Global Geopark renowned for its rugged limestone peaks, deep valleys, and striking geological formations shaped over millions of years. Along the route, you’ll pass through traditional H’Mong villages, offering a glimpse into the daily lives and rich cultural traditions of the local people. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where you might savor regional specialties such as com lam (sticky rice cooked in bamboo), grilled meats, and fresh mountain vegetables. In the afternoon, visit the H’Mong King’s Palace, an early 20th-century architectural gem built by the H’Mong people. This historic site, blending traditional H’Mong design with Chinese and French influences, stands as a proud symbol of the community’s heritage. Take your time exploring the palace’s courtyards, stone walls, and intricate wooden carvings while learning about its historical significance. Afterward, return to Dong Van Old Town for a leisurely stroll through its charming narrow streets. Browse small shops for unique souvenirs, enjoy the traditional architecture, and soak up the atmosphere of this highland settlement. In the evening, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Dong Van, surrounded by the serene beauty of the northern mountains

After breakfast, set out for one of Ha Giang’s most iconic destinations — Ma Pi Leng Pass, often called the “King of all passes.” This legendary mountain road offers jaw-dropping views of jagged cliffs, dramatic valleys, and the emerald waters of the Nho Que River winding far below. Along the way, make several stops at scenic viewpoints to take in the grandeur of the landscape and capture unforgettable photographs. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your adventure. In the afternoon, begin a 15–17 km trek from Lung Phin to the tranquil valley of Du Gia. This journey takes you through some of Ha Giang’s most pristine scenery — terraced rice fields cascading down the hillsides, patches of dense forest alive with birdsong, and small ethnic minority villages where life moves at a gentle pace. Take time to interact with local residents, learn about their traditional customs, and witness their daily routines. By late afternoon, arrive in Du Gia, a peaceful haven surrounded by rolling hills. Dinner will be served at a local guesthouse or homestay, featuring regional specialties such as Thang Co (a traditional highland hotpot) and fresh wild vegetables. Overnight stay in Du Gia, immersed in the calm and authenticity of the northern highlands.

After breakfast, begin the journey back toward Yen Minh, passing through more charming villages and striking highland scenery. Along the way, make occasional stops at scenic viewpoints or in small communities, where you can take photos, observe traditional houses, and learn more about the customs of the local ethnic groups. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Yen Minh, sampling regional specialties or dishes prepared with fresh local produce. In the afternoon, continue the drive to Ha Giang City. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and take some time to relax and recover after the trekking days. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, savoring more flavors of the northern highlands. Spend the night in Ha Giang, reflecting on the memorable experiences and landscapes encountered during your journey.

After breakfast, bid farewell to Ha Giang and start the return journey to Hanoi. The drive takes approximately 6–7 hours, with short stops along the way for rest and refreshments. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant en route, savoring a final taste of regional cuisine before reaching the capital. In the late afternoon, arrive back in Hanoi, concluding your unforgettable 6-day, 5-night trekking adventure through the stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Ha Giang.
